Color, Reflections, and Things that Fly

Finally got back on the lake this morning after a long absence.  The lake was very flat making for some interesting reflections and easy kayaking.

I’ll start with color.  Yes, the color is starting to change up here.  Not very widespread, yet, but you can see it coming.

Although the sky was quite overcast when we started, the sun did finally come out, leaving some very nice clouds.

The water was very calm yielding some nice reflections.

As we were about to get into our kayaks, we saw 4 cormorants on our swim raft.  They flew off before I could get a photo, but did see a couple of them across the lake later on.

There were other fliers out there as well.  There was a pair of loons near the swim raft that have already taken on their winter colors.  They were diving and came up quite close to my kayak at one point.

There were several other ducks on the lake, but this pair posed for me at the south end of the lake.

Does this count as trespassing?

Then there were a couple unexpected fliers.  This sea plane flew directly over us and then landed a short distance away.

We also saw a guy with a lawn chair, propeller, and parachute flying just off shore. A great morning for flying.

Well, it just wouldn’t be one of my posts without a turtle picture.  Actually, these were the only two turtles we saw this morning.

We never know what to expect when we go out on the lake.  And, I’m always glad I went.  Enjoy the rest of your week.
