Well, we’ve had our April showers, even into May, so it’s time for May flowers. Here’s a few examples from near where I live.
Our crab apple trees never fail to amaze with their blossoms. However, this year, there are just as many blossoms, but the the leaves came out early and have hidden some of the blossoms. Not to worry, there will be plenty sling shot ammunition in the fall.
There are always a few crab apples that don’t get eaten by the birds and other animals. This one has hung onto the tree all winter to stand in contrast to the fresh blossoms.
Our flowering quince is not a very impressive bush most of the year, but when in blossom it is beautiful.
These small hyacinths, only about 3 inches tall are an early bloomer.
We have some ground cover that is covered with small blue blossoms.
The Japanese maple leave are red all year, but I still enjoy them this time of year.
The hostas are still a long way from blooming, but the leaves are still beautiful, especially with the sun shining through them.
I drove by this patch of redbud and dogwood a few days ago and had to go back with the camera. (Note to self – Always carry your camera with you.) It is a bit unusual for them to both be at their peak at the same time.
