Thursday morning, July 5. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. I am constantly surprised by how quiet Duck Lake can be. After all, it is the week of 4th of July, we have a state park on the lake, and it is an all-sport lake. Yet, at 9:00 in the morning there were only a very few fishing boats and two kayaks, ours. Mind you, I’m not complaining. Its one of the reasons I like this lake so much.
It is good to see that the water lilies are in full bloom again.
This eastern kingbird let me get quite close.
Saw a few turtles, but this is the only one that posed so nicely.
This female red-winged blackbird was hunting for breakfast. She hovered over the water and would snatch bugs off the lily pads.
We were also able to see the mother loon with baby. They were off at quite a distance and the kayak was rocking, so this is the best shot I got. Great to see babies on the lake.
That’s all for now. I hope to get back out there soon. Enjoy your holiday week.

Glad to see you made it back up to the lake. Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos. We also marvel at how quiet our lake usually is, and that was a big plus when we were looking for a lake home. Looks like today will be a beautiful day to be on the lake again. Enjoy your stay.
Thanks, Jane. Always great being up here.
