We got out on the lake a week ago (sorry I’m slow at posting these) and saw more birds and turtles, no snakes.
It was a good morning to see turtles. These were on the point across from OCC.
These were at the south end of the lake near the Horton Creek inlet. I think this is a personal record, 18 turtles in one image.
It was a good morning for birds, too.
Please note: The following 2 pictures were taken with a long lens from a safe distance and were cropped to appear larger. I did not encroach on the loon’s nest and ask that you do not get close, either. It is amazing how flat the adult gets to protect the eggs.
So, there you have it. Another great paddle on the lake.

Hi Mark, so glad to see that the mama loon is on her nest. We looked for her during the Memorial Day week and could not find her. I headed down that way today, since the sun was FINALLY shining, but there was a pontoon boat near the entrance to that little bay, so I did not go in. We did see a pair of swans and four cygnets. I will see if any of my pictures taken from afar using my zoom turned out at all. It seems to be a banner year for turtles! We have seen dozens at that point across from you, as well as at the end of our bay near the road. Ron reports that the fishing is excellent so far!
