Today was one of those beautiful days in northern Michigan. Cool and dry, just a light breeze. Its what I call Up North Weather. Although the lake was quite rough last night, I went out anyway. I did get to see Mamma and Baby Loon, but ended up taking more photos of the gulls from the dock than of the loons.

Taken in the southern cove of the lake. Its a bit rough, but then the water was rough, too. Hard to hold the camera still.

I was glad to get back to shore since the waves were crashing over the bow of the kayak and I was getting soaked. But from the dock I watched the gulls flying around. I got several shots of them.
Sometimes you head out to the lake with something in mind, but Mother Nature always has a different idea. And, as the old TV commercial said, “Its not nice to fool Mother Nature.” So, the loons and other critters will have to wait for another day.
i believe the first two “gulls” are Common Terns
Thanks. You may well be right.
