Great Falls Park along the Potomac

I had business in Potomac, MD, last week and took the opportunity to visit Great Falls Park on both the VA and MD sides.  I had no idea that these falls/rapids were there on the Potomac just above Washington, DC.

Now I know why they built the C&O Canal along the river.

I highly recommend a visit to the parks on both sides of the river.  $5 gets you into  both parks  for 3 days.
