A beautiful morning on the lake in the kayak. No wind, bright sunshine, cool temperatures, and even the jet skis were being polite. I didn’t see many turtles today, but I made up for that with the variety of birds. I hope you enjoy the photos.
This little guy kept flitting out in front me.
I’ve seen the kingfishers before, but none had sat still long enough for me to get a decent shot. This guy had his breakfast.
This heron is likely the same one I saw last week and was in the same place. Perhaps near a nest?
Here was the surprise of the morning, an osprey. I wasn’t sure what it was until getting home and looking it up.
There was also a pair of eagles, both a mature one and a young one. The mature one flew up and headed straight away from me, so not the best shot, but young one posed in a tree.
Not a bird, but saw these deer across the lake.
All together a great day on the lake. I hope your day has been a good one, too.
Mark
Mark, great photos. I too like the osprey … and the King Fisher. Very cool. Keep shooting –with the camera!!
great wing span on that osprey and I do love the graceful next on the heron. hope all is good. take care of Rose 🙂
Great photos, Mark! Love the ones of the osprey. I have never seen one at Duck Lake, or if I did I didn’t realize what it was. I know that there used to be an osprey nest on a tower structure in a pond along 31, but I don’t think it is there any longer and I never did see a bird on it. I think I saw “your” heron again yesterday. I have seen a pair of eagles like you describe, an adult and a juvenile, a couple different times but always in flight. Just sent you a photo of two immature eagles that were posing for me yesterday. Keep shooting those great shots!
