Finally, we have decent fall color at the lake. Got out in the kayak this morning and were not disappointed. Although not at its peak, the color is very nice. Here are some examples.
At the south end of the lake, just to the west of Horton Creek.
Point just south of OCC
The OCC Shoreline.
In addition to the fall color, we three loons. At first I didn’t know what they were because the color was all wrong. They had white heads instead of black.
They were the right shape for a loon, but the white head confused me. Then, one let out a call and I knew they were loons. It turns out, these have already developed their winter plumage. I had never seen that. I’m not sure how long they will stay on the lake, but I’m glad I got to see them when I did.

Beautiful photos, Mark. You may have caught the last nice days for awhile.
Thanks, Mara. We got up Thursday late and left for home Monday morning. Friday and Saturday were just beautiful. Sunday and Monday not so. We did hit the peak color, I think.

Thank you for making mu day.!
Thanks, Eleanor. Glad to see we have some color around home, too. I hope the rain doesn’t wash all the leaves away.
Fabulous. Love them all, but Horton Creek is fantastic!
Thanks, Sandy. The color was quite late this year, but finally was beautiful.
