Got out on the lake a bit later than usual today. I also haven’t posted the photos I took last week, but I guess I’m running late all around.

My “bird” friend said they might be spotted sandpipers. She was not too sure about that, however.

That bird looks similar to one of the shearwater species. I have never actually seen one; I just looked at a listing of birds of Michigan and that was one that seems to have the right body shape. There is one called a Manx Shearwater, but I am not sure the coloration is correct.

Mark, I sent your picture to one of my friends who is a “Birder.” She has never failed me yet in identifying a bird correctly. I will let you know what she comes up with. I don’t think that they are terns.
You just get the best shots!

Mark, I think they might be terns. I googled terns image and something that looked like them came up.

i love the herons ~ those others, are they a type of grouse?
