My “bird” friend said they might be spotted sandpipers. She was not too sure about that, however.
Beautiful pictures!
That bird looks similar to one of the shearwater species. I have never actually seen one; I just looked at a listing of birds of Michigan and that was one that seems to have the right body shape. There is one called a Manx Shearwater, but I am not sure the coloration is correct.

Mark, I sent your picture to one of my friends who is a “Birder.” She has never failed me yet in identifying a bird correctly. I will let you know what she comes up with. I don’t think that they are terns.

Will be interested to know what those birds turn out to be… see you soon.. CMark, I think they might be terns. I googled terns image and something that looked like them came up.
no, their beaks are too long
i love the herons ~ those others, are they a type of grouse?
