First Trip on the Lake this Spring

It has been way too long since my last post. I’ve taken some photos at the lake since then that I’ll share now. I’ll spread out the best photos over a couple posts.

We finally got out on the lake in early May. Mostly, there were turtles.

I like to paddle up Horton Creek early in the year, just to see what’s changed. The first thing I noticed was the beaver lodge at the first bend was almost completely gone. It was clearly abandoned and collapsed. There were some signs of beaver activity along the creek.

Paddling a bit further we first heard, then saw, the beaver dam.

The marsh marigolds were in full bloom.

As we came back out to the lake, I saw this red-winged blackbird high in a tree.

As we headed back home I spotted this eagle high in a tree.

I think I’ll stop here. This was just from our first trip on the lake this spring. I’ll show more in my next post. Until then, have a wonderful 4th of July!
