Follow-up to Back to the Lake

Water Lily

We headed out again this morning even though the wind had picked up some and the lake was not as flat as we like it. But, it was still great to be out there. These photos are a follow-up to my post from yesterday.

There weren’t many turtles sunning themselves this morning. There were a few brave ones that sat still long enough for me to get a photo.

Red-winged blackbirds are another one that are quite skittish and don’t like being approached for a photo. This was taken at quite a distance with the photo cropped to show the blackbird. I like the starkness of the dark bird and branch against the featureless sky.

I chased this kingbird for a while until it posed for me. Again this is heavily cropped.

I love the water lilies this time of year. They’ve not been out so long that they’ve started to fade, but still have crisp white petals.

I liked the reeds in the background of this one. It was tucked back in among the reeds, so the water was a bit smoother.

So, although the water was a bit rough, we had a great paddle. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.
