More Fall Color

It had been two weeks since we had been to the cabin.  The color has been absolutely magnificent this year.  Two weeks ago we found that several inland areas had the best color.  (See the previous post.)  That color had faded to mostly dark yellows and browns, so we headed toward the lake shore and were not disappointed.

But first, a quick kayak around the south end of Duck Lake. The color was very nice on this sunny Saturday morning.

Heading out on Sunday afternoon.

We drove toward Midland and stopped at a rest stop.  Only in Michigan do we celebrate road construction with sculpture.

This has been the best year for fall color in a long time.  Here at home, it is time to start raking.

  1. We have seen a lot of beautiful color since we left the colony and started driving east BUT your pic of Youker Rd takes my breath. So happy to know that you were able to have another good weekend before the weather takes a bad turn. Thank you so much for sharing your pics with all of us.

  2. Were you kayaking on Sunday afternoon? We were on the lake Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We were down at the south bay on Sunday and saw two other kayaks at that end along the shore. I thought that the loons were gone, but as we headed back, we heard a loon calling from somewhere in the south bay. We were too far away at that point to see where he was.
