Well, I’m back to Northern Michigan for my posts. Although we are not nearly at peak color locally, there are some areas that are beautiful. Duck Lake happens to be one of those places. We got in the kayaks this morning and enjoyed the color.
This pair of mallard ducks were just two of about a dozen ducks we saw just south of our dock.

Here they are again swimming away with the beautiful trees in the background.

This was typical of the color along the lake.

This great blue heron was walking along the shore.

After stepping up onto the dock, it flew across the lake.

Moments later there was a second heron that flew from a tree right in front of me.

I watched where it landed and got a better photo.

Again, the fall colors were great along the lake today.

There were two swans in the south end of the lake, so we gave them plenty room.

Here is the OCC dock with the bright chairs to match the trees.

Rose got this photo of me paddling along the lake.

So, although there is only spotty color in the area, it was a great display along the lake this morning. We hope to be back up in a couple weeks to catch more of the color.

Welcome back to Duck Lake. We have been enjoying the lovely calm waters the past few days for lots of kayaking. We were in the South Bay this afternoon and also saw the swans and enjoyed watching a blue heron do some fishing. The colors get more vibrant daily. The north end of the lake is stunning, and there is a solitary swan over there, too.
Looks very peaceful. I’m at the cabin this afternoon by myself for a few days. I need to take some time to myself to rest. Take care.
