Sorry for the long delay, but here are the remaining photos from our trip to Mackinac Island and the Grand Hotel. We got an early season discount that included our lodging, dinner and breakfast, and tours at the fort and art museum. But, before we get there, I have to share a sculpture I saw on the way to the Grand Hotel.
OK, no surprise that I would take pictures of turtles, wherever I see them.
Let’s continue our walk to the hotel.
It is up a hill, so be prepared for that. We are getting closer.
The Grand Hotel has a long history and is the world’s largest summer hotel.
The front of the hotel is lined with flowers and flags.
The front porch is also the world’s longest at 660 feet long. The porch is lined with rocking chairs that look out on the gardens below. At the far end, you can see the bridge.
The hotel is a splendid place to visit. We look forward to going again and seeing more of the interior of the island and doing some of the hikes.
