Our next stop was the Basilica di Santa Chiara (Basilica of Saint Clare).

The Basilica di Santa Chiara (Basilica of Saint Clare), built between 1257 and 1265, contains the remains of Saint Clare. Her remains were transferred to this basilica in 1260 and buried in the earth under the high alter of the then new church. Her tomb remained hidden until 1850. In 1872 her bones were transferred to a shrine in the crypt where they may now be seen. (WikiPedia)
Within this church are the 12th century crucifix that spoke to St. Francis, a number of relics including tunics worn by both St. Clare and St. Francis, and the preserved body of St. Clare. Again, no photography was allowed inside the church, so I can only share photos from the outside.

I am enjoying the tour! The piazzas can often be very active with music and art during high tourist seasons, very fun to people watch. Have a good weekend.
