I posted photos of the butterflies at Meijer Garden a week ago. While we were there we wandered out to their Japanese Garden. Although it is much nicer in the summer, it is still a nice place to visit in the early spring.
The Japanese Garden is just a short walk from the visitor’s center and the butterfly display.
Here is a sign describing the garden.
This sign tells a bit about the designer of the garden, Hoichi Kurisu.
Here are some of the vistas in the garden.
This sculpture is impressive.
Depending on the season, there are other water features (fountains, waterfalls) and blossoming trees.
Of course, Meijer Gardens is mainly know as a sculpture garden. Although we didn’t wander around the entire garden, here are a couple sculptures we passed by.
Two Bears show a black bear and a brown bear sitting together. There is another copy of this sculpture at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, Michigan. See my photos here.
The American Horse, shown below, was designed by Leonardo da Vinci. Two casts were made, one on display here at Meijer Gardens and the other in Milan, Italy. See here for more info.
I loved the way this sculpture was silhouetted against the sky.
This sculpture, Bent of Mind, greats you at the entrance of Meijer Gardens.

So, this was a quick tour of Meijer Gardens. There is so much more to see. I hope you take the opportunity to visit and explore all it has to offer.

Always nice to see where you two have been out and about. The sculptures are wonderful!
Thanks for sharing. This is a reminder to put it on my calendar.
Thanks for posting these beautiful pictures. We’ve never been to the butterfly gardens and hope to soon.
