The crocuses are the first spring blossoms in our part of the country. There is a patch of them I have photographed many times over the years. They always surprise me when I see them because they are a blast of bright color when we’ve had so much drab for so long.
Technically, these are Woodland Crocuses. They are not native to the US, but are from Bulgaria, Hungary, Albania, and the former Yugoslavia (Wikipedia).
These may be an early sign of spring, but don’t put your winter coat away just yet.
I hope you find all the beauty spring brings.

Love seeing these early blooms of spring. My daffodils are in bloom and the trees are popping with their leaves. Of course, Ron was just at the lake last week where there was snow on the ground. I do think it has all melted now.
We are headed up later this week and hope see the snow all gone. Not sure if that will be the case.
Perfect little beauties. I have not seen any crocus here, but our daffodils have bloomed and are done already. Possibly 3 feet of snow expected tomorrow at higher elevations, which means rain here for a few days. No complaints though, we always need the rain.
These are always a welcome site in the spring.
