The next morning we went in search of the Cathedral Rock. There are two approaches to Cathedral Rock. The more iconic trail, Cathedral Rock Trailhead, is very busy and parking is limited. If you get there too late (early- to mid-morning) the road to the parking lot is closed. The less-traveled trails are on the opposite side of Oak Creek. We chose to hike along the creek from the Crescent Moon Picnic Site. There were easy trails with some views of Cathedral Rock. There were also view on the road to the picnic site.
Here is a view from the trail in the picnic area.
There were some very flat red rock formations along the creek.
One last look at Cathedral Rock as we headed back into town.
Next stop, another hike from a neighborhood trail head.
